Notifying your Partners if you have an STD or HIV
Did you test positive for an STD? If so, it’s very important that you talk to your current and past sexual partners about your STD. If you are afraid or embarrassed to tell them yourself, the health department in your area can notify your sexual partners that they may have been exposed to an STD without giving your name.
Telling someone you have an STD can be a tough process, but think about how you’d feel if you were on the other side—wouldn’t you want to know? You also don’t have to face it alone. Talk to your healthcare provider and ask for tips or other individuals who can help you in the disclosure process. Also telling your provider you have an STD is important to make sure that you receive the best care for your needs.
